Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy continued his busy schedule in New Delhi with an important meeting planned with Union Home Minister Amit Shah. The discussion is expected to focus on security related developments and recent events linked to Maoist activities in the region.
Revanth Reddy reached the office of Amit Shah on Wednesday evening along with senior officials from the Telangana police department. The delegation includes Director General of Police Shivdhar Reddy Intelligence IG Sumathi and Additional Director of Intelligence Vijay Kumar.
The Revanth Reddy Amit Shah meeting comes at a time when several senior Maoist leaders recently surrendered before the Telangana government. Among those who laid down arms were Devji also known as Tippiri Tirupati Malla Rajireddy and Noone Narasimha Reddy. Their surrender has attracted attention across the country.
Security agencies have been closely monitoring the developments as the central government continues its efforts to eliminate Maoist activity through Operation Kagar. The surrender of several senior leaders during this period has raised discussions about the changing dynamics of the movement.
Reports have also suggested that Maoist party secretary Ganapathi also known as Muppala Lakshmana Rao is currently in Nepal and facing health issues related to old age. Telangana police are reportedly working to bring him back to India.
Ganapathi brother had earlier appealed through the media asking him to surrender and return to normal life. Meanwhile the recent Maoist leaders surrender in the forests of Asifabad has been seen as a significant development in the ongoing security operations.
Sources indicate that during the Revanth Reddy Amit Shah meeting the Union Home Minister may appreciate the efforts of the Telangana police for facilitating these surrenders and for their role in strengthening internal security measures in the state.
