The weather department has issued a rain alert for several districts in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana as changing atmospheric conditions over the Bay of Bengal are likely to bring rainfall during the next two days.

According to officials, a surface level weather system has developed over the west central Bay of Bengal near the north coastal Andhra region. The influence of this system may result in scattered rainfall across several districts beginning Sunday and continuing into Monday.

The Andhra Pradesh State Disaster Management Authority stated that districts such as Srikakulam, Parvathipuram, Manyam, Vizianagaram, Alluri Sitarama Raju, Polavaram and Visakhapatnam could experience light to moderate rainfall. In some places thunderstorms lightning and gusty winds may also accompany the showers.

Meanwhile, the weather department has also predicted rainfall in parts of Telangana. Several districts may witness light to moderate showers over the next two days. Officials also warned that unseasonal rains accompanied by thunder and lightning could occur after March sixteen.

The rain forecast comes at a time when both states are experiencing intense summer heat. Temperatures in many areas have already touched forty degrees Celsius, making it difficult for people to step outside after morning hours due to the scorching sun and humid conditions.

While the rainfall may bring temporary relief from the heat, authorities have advised people to remain cautious during thunderstorms and strong winds. Residents have been asked not to stand near hoardings trees or electricity poles during storms and to move to safer places if strong winds develop.

Farmers have also been urged to take precautionary measures to protect crops. In several regions harvesting activities are currently underway and sudden rains could damage crops that are either ready for harvest or stored in fields.

Weather officials say people should stay alert and follow safety guidelines as changing weather conditions may lead to sudden rainfall and strong winds across parts of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana in the coming days.
