- Gurranguda forest declared reserve forest by Telangana government.
- Hyderabad to get new urban forest park and green space.
- Reserve forest status protects Gurranguda forest land from encroachsment.
In a major step towards environmental protection, the Telangana government has officially declared the Gurranguda forest area as a reserve forest. The decision is expected to create a new urban forest space for people living in and around Hyderabad while strengthening legal protection for the forest land.
The government issued orders on March thirteen confirming that the Gurranguda forest region located in the Amangal division will now be treated as a reserve forest. The move ends a long legal process that had delayed the protection of the forest area for several years.
According to forest department officials, the reserve forest will cover about four hundred twenty four acres and thirty one guntas of forest land. The notification was issued under Section fifteen of the Telangana Forest Act nineteen sixty seven through a government order released by the Environment Forest Science and Technology Department.
Chief Conservator of Forests Dr C Suvarna stated that the declaration gives strong legal protection to the forest land. With the completion of the legal procedures the area now officially comes under the reserve forest category which will help safeguard it from illegal occupation and other threats.
A significant portion of the land in Sahebnagar Kalan village had been involved in a long running legal dispute. Around one hundred two acres in survey number two zero one one had remained under court hearings for years. The matter widely known as the Sahebnagar Kalan case was heard in multiple courts before finally reaching the Supreme Court.
The Supreme Court eventually supported the forest department’s argument and stressed the importance of protecting forest land from encroachments and unauthorized claims. The ruling helped clear the path for the government to formally declare the area as a reserve forest.
Officials also revealed that the Telangana government plans to develop the region into a large urban forest park. With Hyderabad expanding rapidly and urbanization increasing every year, the need for green spaces in and around the city has become more important.
The proposed urban forest park is expected to offer a natural environment where people can relax, spend time with family and experience nature within the city limits. It will also help create awareness about environmental conservation and promote sustainable urban living.
The government has been taking several measures to protect forest lands and prevent encroachments while expanding green lung spaces around Hyderabad. Declaring the Gurranguda forest as a reserve forest is seen as an important step in strengthening environmental protection in the region.
