The Telangana government has announced a major infrastructure plan to ease traffic congestion in Hyderabad by constructing a double decker corridor in the eastern part of the city. The project is expected to improve connectivity and support the growing transportation demands of the rapidly expanding metropolitan region.

According to Roads and Buildings Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy the proposed corridor will be developed between LB Nagar and Hayathnagar covering nearly six kilometres. The project is estimated to cost around nine hundred forty crore rupees and is being designed as a multi level transport corridor.

Officials explained that the top level of the corridor will accommodate metro rail services while the middle level will function as a national highway for long distance vehicles. At the ground level several vehicle underpasses will be constructed to allow smooth movement for local traffic.

The minister said the state government has already committed around two hundred crore rupees for the project as part of its contribution. Authorities believe the innovative design will help manage heavy traffic on the Hyderabad Vijayawada route which has seen a significant increase in vehicle movement over the years.

The announcement was made during a foundation ceremony for road expansion works between Hayathnagar Saibaba Temple and a nearby school area where a two lane road will be widened to four lanes. The expansion is expected to improve local connectivity and reduce congestion in surrounding areas.

The government is also planning additional large scale transport projects in the same region. Minister Komatireddy revealed that three high speed bullet train corridors connecting Hyderabad with Chennai Bengaluru and Mumbai Pune are expected to pass through the LB Nagar and Hayathnagar zone in the future.

Officials believe the development of these major infrastructure projects will significantly transform the eastern corridor of Hyderabad. Areas such as Hayathnagar and Ibrahimpatnam are expected to witness rapid urban growth similar to the development seen in Kokapet over the past few years.

In addition the government is preparing to begin work on a ten lane highway connecting Hyderabad and Vijayawada which will further strengthen regional connectivity and support economic activity between the two cities.

During the event the minister also addressed criticism regarding the Musi river restoration project. He said the initiative aims to improve water quality and protect public health in downstream districts such as Nalgonda where residents have long suffered from polluted water.

He assured that families affected by the Musi river rejuvenation project would receive proper rehabilitation and support from the government. According to officials the project is intended to benefit future generations by restoring the river and improving environmental conditions in the region.

The proposed Hyderabad double decker corridor along with other transport projects reflects the state government focus on building modern infrastructure to support the city continued growth and reduce daily traffic challenges faced by commuters.
