A major development has emerged in the Actress Prathyusha Case as the main accused Siddharth Reddy surrendered before the Nampally court following clear directions from the Supreme Court. His return from the United States marks a crucial turn in a case that has drawn attention for years.
The Supreme Court had earlier rejected Siddharth Reddy’s plea and directed him to surrender within four weeks. Upholding the High Court verdict, the apex court confirmed the conviction related to abetment of suicide and made it mandatory for him to appear before the court by the given deadline.
Siddharth Reddy, who had been living in the United States for over two decades, returned to India in compliance with the court’s order. His surrender comes after the judiciary reaffirmed that he played a role in driving actress Prathyusha to take the extreme step.
The case dates back to February 24, 2022, when Prathyusha died during treatment after consuming poison. The incident had shocked many, as she was at the beginning of her acting career. Reports revealed that both Prathyusha and Siddharth Reddy consumed poison following opposition from their families regarding their relationship, but he survived while she succumbed.
Earlier, the trial court had found Siddharth Reddy guilty of abetting suicide and sentenced him to five years in prison. The High Court later reduced the sentence to two years. Challenging this, he approached the Supreme Court, but the court upheld the High Court’s decision.
Prathyusha’s mother has consistently maintained that her daughter’s death was not a simple suicide and pursued a legal battle seeking justice. The court, however, concluded that Siddharth Reddy’s actions contributed to the situation leading to her death.
With the accused now in custody after surrendering, the case has once again come into focus, highlighting the long legal journey and emotional struggle surrounding the Actress Prathyusha Case.
