In a significant update for thousands of families, the Telangana government has announced that long pending double bedroom housing units will soon be allotted to eligible beneficiaries. The announcement is expected to bring relief to many urban poor households who have been waiting for years.
Housing Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy confirmed that the government has decided to fast track incomplete projects and clear pending bills to ensure construction resumes without further delays. Several housing units that were stalled midway will now be completed on priority.
According to officials, around 18579 double bedroom houses are set to be finished and handed over in the coming phase. The government is focusing particularly on urban areas where demand remains high and applicants have been regularly following up with authorities.
The minister stated that steps are being taken to provide houses closer to the current residential locations of beneficiaries, making it easier for families to transition without disruption. Authorities have also asked eligible applicants who have not yet received houses to submit their details for review and necessary action.
The announcement was made during the ongoing legislative session, where the minister addressed queries regarding delays in housing allotments. He assured that once construction is completed, distribution will begin without further postponement.
In a related development, the government also provided clarity on the second phase of the Indiramma housing scheme. Officials indicated that the next round of allotments is likely to take place between April and May. The housing approval process, they said, will continue without interruption.
The government further noted that financial constraints affecting earlier sanctioned houses will be addressed in the upcoming budget cycle. Efforts are also underway to speed up construction, with a target to complete nearly three lakh houses by July.
With renewed focus and funding support, the state aims to ensure that housing benefits reach deserving families at the earliest, addressing one of the most pressing needs among low income groups.
