Former minister Harish Rao has said that the BRS would scrap the Future City project if the party returns to power in Telangana. Speaking during his visit to the United States, he made strong remarks against the present government and questioned its approach toward the project.

Harish Rao alleged that the current administration is moving away from the original purpose of the Pharma City plan and turning it into a larger real estate venture. He claimed that the project structure has been altered significantly compared to what was initially envisioned.

According to him, the earlier plan focused mainly on pharmaceutical development while keeping a smaller portion for other activities. He said the present government is reversing that balance and shifting greater attention toward commercial development.

He also referred to environmental approvals and said permission from the Union Environment Ministry had been given specifically for Pharma City. He argued that if there are major changes from the approved structure, laws provide provisions regarding land issues involving farmers.

Harish Rao further accused the government of creating confusion around the project and maintained that the BRS originally launched Pharma City with the aim of generating employment opportunities for a large number of people. He added that the party would restore the original Pharma City concept if it comes back to power.
