The incident took place under the limits of Meerpet police station. The student, identified as Himabindu, was a first year BSc student and a resident of Badangpet. According to preliminary reports, she had been deeply attached to her pet cat, which she had been raising for the past two years.

Family members said the student was unable to cope with the loss after the cat died recently. She reportedly fell into severe emotional distress and later consumed pesticide at her residence. Her parents expressed shock, stating they never expected her grief to take such a tragic turn.

Police officials reached the spot after receiving information from locals and shifted the body to Osmania Hospital for postmortem. A case has been registered and an investigation is underway to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the incident.

Authorities are also examining whether there were any other underlying reasons beyond the emotional impact of losing the pet. Officials stated that all possible angles are being considered as part of the probe.
