The date for Eid ul Fitr 2026 has been officially confirmed, bringing clarity to celebrations across India and particularly in the Telugu states. Authorities announced that the festival will be observed on March 21, following the conclusion of the holy month of Ramzan.
The announcement came after the Shawwal moon was not sighted on the expected day. Based on this, religious committees decided that Ramzan will end on Friday, with Eid celebrations scheduled for Saturday.
The Central Ruyat e Hilal Committee, associated with the Deccan Muslim Ulema Council, played a key role in confirming the date. The committee held discussions and reviewed moon sighting reports before making the final announcement in accordance with traditional guidelines.
In Hyderabad, the committee conducted its regular meeting to assess the situation. Members carefully evaluated inputs from different regions and followed established religious practices before arriving at the decision.
With the date now confirmed, preparations for Eid ul Fitr are in full swing. Families are getting ready to celebrate the festival with prayers, gatherings and festive meals, marking the end of a month of fasting and reflection.
The confirmation has also helped avoid confusion among communities, ensuring that celebrations across the Telugu states and the rest of the country take place on the same day.
