In a significant move for government staff, the Telangana government has once again extended the tenure of the Pay Revision Commission to ensure completion of pending salary revisions. The extension comes as many employees and pensioners are still awaiting final pay fixation under the 2020 revised scales.

The latest decision grants an additional six months for the commission, pushing the deadline to the end of September. Officials said the extension is aimed at clearing delays and allowing all eligible employees to complete the process without further hurdles.

According to government orders issued by the Finance Department, employees and teachers who could not complete their pay fixation earlier due to various reasons have now been given another opportunity. They can proceed with the process through the designated system even without prior government approval.

The Pay Revision Commission was initially set up after the previous term ended in June 2023. A new panel was constituted later that year to finalize salary structures and address pending concerns. However, changes in government and administrative delays resulted in repeated extensions of its tenure.

The commission, headed by retired IAS officer N Shivashankar along with another senior member, was originally expected to submit its report within six months. Since then, the timeline has been extended multiple times to accommodate pending work.

With the latest extension nearing its previous deadline, the government has decided to continue the commission’s term once again, ensuring that no employee is left out of the pay revision process.

Officials believe the move will bring relief to thousands of employees and pensioners who have been waiting for their revised salaries to be finalized. The government has reiterated its commitment to completing the process in a timely and transparent manner.
