Kalvakuntla Kavitha has raised concerns over rising job losses due to artificial intelligence and called for immediate policy intervention. She suggested that a structured legal framework is necessary to address the growing impact of AI on employment across sectors.
In a public statement, she proposed a three level approach to tackle AI job loss. This includes creating national and state level monitoring systems, strengthening social protection, and improving skill development through industry collaboration. According to her, such measures are essential to safeguard workers from sudden employment disruptions caused by technology.
At the same time, Kavitha strongly criticized the Telangana government over recent decisions affecting handloom workers. She alleged that the cancellation of school uniform orders has pushed thousands of workers into uncertainty and financial distress.
She pointed out that the annual uniform orders, valued at around 105 crore, have traditionally provided employment to a large number of handloom workers. The sudden cancellation of these orders, she said, has severely impacted their livelihoods.
Kavitha also raised concerns about pending welfare department orders worth nearly 200 crore, which have not been allocated to the handloom cooperative. She accused the government of deliberately weakening the system by delaying or denying work to the cooperative sector.
Further criticizing the administration, she alleged that there is an attempt to divert these orders to private entities instead of supporting traditional workers. She warned that such actions could lead to a major crisis among handloom communities.
Kavitha urged the government to immediately reverse its decisions and restore support for workers. She also cautioned that if corrective steps are not taken, large scale protests may be launched to protect the interests of affected families.
