A prolonged legal fight has finally brought relief to a bank employee who suffered life changing injuries in a road accident. The court has directed the state run RTC to pay compensation of Rs 88.94 lakh along with nine percent interest, recognizing the severe impact the incident had on his life and livelihood.
The case dates back to October 31, 2018, when the victim, a resident of Hyderabad, was travelling on a motorcycle with a friend. During the journey, an RTC bus collided with their bike, causing critical injuries. Despite receiving medical treatment, doctors were forced to amputate his left leg due to the extent of the damage.
Before the accident, he was employed at a rural bank and led a stable life. However, the injury not only caused permanent disability but also resulted in the loss of his job. With no steady income and limited support, he approached the court seeking justice and financial assistance for his losses.
After examining the case, the tribunal considered multiple factors including medical expenses, loss of income, and long term impact on his life. Based on these, the court ordered the RTC authorities to pay Rs 88,94,658 as compensation. It also made it clear that interest at nine percent should be added from the date of filing the case until full payment is made.
In a similar recent case, the court had awarded compensation to a young girl who lost her leg in another bus accident. The incident involved a six year old child who was hit by a bus while walking with her parents. The court held the driver responsible for negligence and granted financial relief to the victim’s family.
These cases underline the importance of road safety and accountability, while also showing how the legal system can provide relief to victims facing life altering consequences due to accidents.
