A disturbing incident unfolded in Telangana’s Karimnagar district where a newly married man attempted self immolation after being separated from his wife. The man, identified as Varun, is currently undergoing treatment in a Hyderabad hospital.
According to police, Varun, a resident of Rangareddy, had recently married a woman from Karimnagar following a love relationship. The couple had approached the Karimnagar Rural Police seeking protection, fearing opposition from the woman’s family.
However, the situation escalated when the woman’s family arrived at the police station and took her away, reportedly citing lack of valid proof of marriage. The sudden separation left Varun deeply distressed.
Soon after the incident, Varun allegedly poured petrol on himself and set himself on fire. People nearby, along with police personnel, quickly intervened and managed to extinguish the flames before shifting him to a nearby hospital.
Given the severity of his injuries, he was later moved to a hospital in Hyderabad for advanced treatment. Police confirmed that he is currently receiving medical care, and further investigation into the incident is ongoing.
