Telangana is set to roll out the first phase of Census 2027 starting May 11, marking the beginning of a major data collection exercise across the state. Officials have urged citizens to be prepared as enumerators will soon begin visiting households.

Before field visits begin, residents will also have the option to complete their details through digital self enumeration between April 26 and May 10. This step is expected to make the process more efficient and reduce the time taken during physical verification.

The initial phase will focus on collecting household level information and will continue until June 9. During this period, census officers will visit homes, gather details, and may leave forms that need to be filled and submitted accurately.

Authorities have made it clear that citizens are legally required to answer questions truthfully to the best of their knowledge. At the same time, certain cultural sensitivities have been acknowledged, especially regarding disclosure of names of women where customs do not permit.

Officials will also be allowed reasonable access to homes for data collection and for placing identification markers related to the census process. Any attempt to obstruct the work of census staff or provide false information may invite strict penalties.

Violations such as refusing to cooperate, damaging official markings, or failing to submit required information can lead to fines and even imprisonment. The government has warned that both individuals and officials who neglect their responsibilities may face legal action.

With a combination of digital tools and field level operations, the Census 2027 exercise aims to capture accurate population data while ensuring smooth participation from citizens across Telangana.
