The Telangana government has announced a fresh Dearness Allowance increase for employees of the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation, offering relief to thousands of staff awaiting the revision. The hike will come into effect from January 1, 2026.
Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar confirmed that the DA has been increased by 2.1 percent, taking it from 50.7 percent to 52.8 percent. The move follows a similar revision made in July 2025, reflecting the government’s continued effort to adjust employee compensation in line with inflation.
As part of the implementation, arrears from January 2026 will be cleared in three installments. Officials stated that one installment will be released each month through supplementary bills, ensuring that employees receive the pending amounts in a phased manner.
The revision, however, comes with a financial implication for the corporation. According to estimates, the DA hike will add an additional burden of approximately Rs 2.82 crore per month on TGSRTC. Despite the cost, the government has moved forward with the decision, highlighting its focus on employee welfare.
TGSRTC Managing Director V Nagi Reddy noted that employees had been waiting for this announcement and welcomed the decision. Officials also clarified that there are currently no pending DA arrears following earlier pay revisions implemented in recent years.
Alongside the announcement, the transport minister reviewed ongoing works with regional managers and directed officials to speed up pending tasks within the corporation. The government aims to maintain operational efficiency while addressing employee concerns through such measures.
With the latest hike, the DA for TGSRTC employees now stands at 52.8 percent, marking another step in the state’s ongoing pay adjustment efforts.
