In a major crackdown on illegal drug activities, police in Shamirpet have arrested six youths involved in ganja distribution and seized a significant quantity of contraband. The operation highlights growing concerns over drug networks targeting young individuals in the region.

Acting on credible information, Special Operations Team officials carried out a surprise raid in an open ground at Kolthur under Shamirpet limits. The police discovered a group of youths attempting to sell ganja discreetly. As officers moved in, several suspects tried to flee the scene, but a swift chase led to the arrest of six individuals.

During the operation, authorities recovered around three kilograms of ganja along with three mobile phones. The seized narcotics are estimated to be worth approximately two lakh rupees. The arrested individuals are believed to be residents of nearby villages, raising concerns about local involvement in drug distribution.

Police officials revealed that a total of thirteen youths were present at the location during the raid. While six were apprehended, seven others managed to escape and are currently on the run. Efforts are underway to trace and arrest the remaining suspects.

The arrested accused have been handed over to the Genome Valley Police Station for further legal proceedings. A case has been registered, and an investigation is ongoing to uncover the broader network behind the operation.

Authorities reiterated their commitment to curbing the illegal drug trade and warned that strict action will continue against those involved in narcotics activities.
