Urdu Media Awards 2025 Announced Nationwide Nominations Open for Journalists

The second edition of the Urdu Media Awards 2025 has been announced, with nominations now open to participants across India. The initiative aims to recognize excellence in Urdu journalism while encouraging diverse voices from both traditional and digital platforms.
Organised by the CETI Foundation, the awards will honour five outstanding contributors this year. Two awards are reserved for journalists from Telangana, while two others will go to participants from the rest of the country. Each winner will receive a cash prize of Rs 15000 along with a citation.
A special highlight of the awards is the lifetime achievement recognition, which will be presented to a senior journalist or distinguished media personality for their long standing contribution to Urdu journalism. Awardees will also be provided with travel support including airfare and accommodation to attend the ceremony in Hyderabad.
The awards are open to a wide range of contributors in the Urdu media space. Journalists and media professionals shaping public opinion are eligible, along with social media creators working to raise awareness and counter misinformation.
Applicants can also include professionals involved in investigative reporting data driven journalism feature writing and audio visual storytelling. Digital creators using websites YouTube and other platforms to highlight underreported issues are encouraged to apply, as well as bloggers and researchers contributing outside mainstream media.
To be eligible, candidates must be Indian nationals. They are required to submit a personal statement of 500 to 800 words outlining their vision on diversity in media along with an updated resume. Applicants must also provide at least three work samples published in 2025.

The selection process will be carried out by an independent panel consisting of senior journalists journalism educators and industry experts. The panel will shortlist awardees based on defined criteria ensuring fairness and credibility in the final selection.
With its focus on inclusivity innovation and recognition, the Urdu Media Awards 2025 aims to celebrate impactful journalism while offering a national platform for emerging and established voices in Urdu media.
