In a major push towards digital governance, Telangana has recorded significant progress in vehicle registration services through the Vahan Portal. Officials confirmed that over 59 thousand temporary vehicle registrations have already been processed since the system went live.

Transport Commissioner K Ilambarathi stated that the portal is part of a broader effort to bring transparency and efficiency to transport services. Developed by the National Informatics Centre, the Vahan Portal is being introduced across the state in phases.

Since its launch on March 23, the system has issued 59,567 temporary registrations at the dealer level, while more than 9 thousand vehicles have completed permanent registration. Authorities also indicated that nearly 40 thousand pending temporary registrations will be processed soon.

Officials highlighted that additional features such as fancy number allocation are already active, with over 1,200 special vehicle numbers assigned through the portal. The gradual integration of modules is expected to enhance user experience and streamline the entire process.

Addressing concerns about technical glitches, Ilambarathi assured that a dedicated team is working continuously to resolve issues. A team from Delhi is actively monitoring the system and making necessary adjustments based on real time feedback.

Training programs have also been conducted for automobile dealers across Telangana to ensure smooth adoption of the digital system. Feedback from field level staff and officials is being used to refine the software and improve performance.

Authorities are confident that within the next few weeks, the Telangana Vahan Portal will stabilize completely, offering seamless and efficient services to vehicle owners across the state.
