A disturbing case of domestic violence from Gangojipet has created panic and outrage among local residents after a man allegedly attacked his wife with an axe during a family dispute. The incident took place in Choutakur mandal of Sangareddy district and came to light after a police complaint was filed.
According to police officials, frequent arguments had reportedly been taking place between the couple for the past several months. During one such heated argument, the accused, identified as Durgaiah, allegedly lost control and attacked his wife Veeramani with an axe inside their home.
The assault turned extremely violent, leaving the 45 year old woman with severe injuries to her legs. Family members and locals immediately shifted her to a private hospital in Hyderabad for emergency treatment. Doctors are currently treating her in critical condition.
The shocking attack reportedly happened in front of the couple’s son, who was left traumatised after witnessing the incident. Unable to cope with what he saw, the son approached the Pulkal Police Station and lodged a complaint against his own father.
Police officials later visited the scene and gathered evidence related to the attack. Based on the complaint, a case of attempt to murder has been registered against the accused. Authorities said further investigation is underway to determine all circumstances surrounding the incident.
The brutal assault has once again raised concerns over rising domestic violence cases and the emotional stress caused by unresolved family conflicts. Local residents expressed shock over the extreme nature of the attack, describing the incident as deeply disturbing and heartbreaking.
