The proposed expansion of Hyderabad Metro has received an important boost after the central government expressed preliminary support for the second phase of the project. The development is being seen as a positive sign for the future of public transport and urban infrastructure growth in the city.
During discussions involving Union leaders, key aspects related to Metro Phase Two were reviewed. Officials indicated that the Detailed Project Report submitted for the expansion would undergo examination before final decisions are taken on the project.
The state government has already submitted proposals for extending the Metro network across nearly 162 kilometers. The planned expansion is expected to improve connectivity in different parts of Hyderabad and support the city’s growing transportation requirements.
Officials also noted that there are no major concerns in principle regarding the proposed second phase. Reports suggest that the project may move ahead through a shared financial structure involving both the central and state governments.
Under the proposed funding arrangement, the Centre and the state may jointly contribute to project expenses on an equal basis. Authorities believe such cooperation could help accelerate large infrastructure initiatives and improve transportation facilities for citizens.
The Metro expansion is expected to play an important role in Hyderabad’s urban development plans by reducing travel difficulties and providing better public transit options for daily commuters across the city.
