The Telangana government has stepped up its efforts to identify and remove ineligible beneficiaries who are reportedly using white ration cards despite not meeting eligibility standards. Officials are now carrying out large scale checks to ensure welfare benefits reach deserving families.

During the verification process, authorities discovered that several individuals with stable and higher income backgrounds were continuing to receive benefits intended for economically weaker sections. The list reportedly includes private sector employees and individuals earning substantial salaries.

Officials found that some people employed in software and other high paying sectors had obtained separate ration cards after moving away from joint family systems. Since many of them were earlier listed under their parents’ cards, their actual financial details remained unnoticed for a long period.

Under the latest review process, people with annual earnings above six lakh rupees and those filing income tax returns are being identified as ineligible. Authorities are also examining land ownership details and taking action against beneficiaries who exceed the permitted land limits under government norms.

The review exercise has also created concern among those whose cards may come under scrutiny. However, officials have clarified that steps are being taken to avoid inconvenience to genuinely eligible families who may have been mistakenly included in the list due to technical or data related issues.

Field level investigations are being conducted before any final action is taken. In several cases, authorities reportedly contacted beneficiaries directly and collected supporting information. Officials are also visiting homes wherever necessary to confirm the accuracy of submitted details and ensure that eligible citizens continue receiving benefits without interruption.
