Restaurant Owners Arrested in Bengaluru Over Alleged Food Mislabeling Case
Police arrested two restaurant owners in Bengaluru after an investigation into customer complaints allegedly revealed that a different meat was being served than what was listed.

Two restaurant owners in Bengaluru have been arrested following allegations that customers were being served food different from what was advertised on the menu. The action came after multiple complaints prompted authorities to conduct a detailed inquiry into the restaurant’s operations.
According to police, several customers had raised concerns that dishes sold as mutton did not match the meat being served. The complaints led officials to launch a covert inspection to verify the claims.
As part of the investigation, a police officer reportedly visited the establishment in plain clothes and ordered food listed as mutton. Samples obtained during the operation were subsequently examined, and authorities concluded that the meat served was not the same as the item advertised on the menu.
The restaurant, located in the Bommanahalli area of Bengaluru, had allegedly not mentioned the disputed meat item anywhere on its menu card. Police said the mismatch between the menu description and the food served formed the basis of the case.
The two arrested individuals have been identified as owners associated with the restaurant and were taken into custody following the findings of the investigation. Authorities stated that legal proceedings were initiated under relevant provisions of state law.
Police officials added that another individual linked to the business is currently absconding, and efforts are underway to trace and apprehend him. Investigators are also examining whether similar practices may have occurred over an extended period.
The case has drawn attention among local residents and customers, with authorities emphasizing the importance of accurate food labeling and transparency in restaurant operations. Further investigation is continuing to establish all aspects of the matter.
