Congress Leader Indira Shobhan Slams KTR Over False Allegations
Hyderabad, September 9: Congress leader Indira Shobhan came down heavily on BRS Working President KT Rama Rao (KTR), stating that he has lost his composure and is making baseless remarks only because he cannot digest the good work being done by the Congress government.
She pointed out that while Chief Minister Revanth Reddy laid the foundation stone for the “Musi River Rejuvenation” programme by filling the Osman Sagar and Himayat Sagar twin reservoirs with Godavari waters, KTR could not tolerate this initiative and started speaking irrationally. Indira Shobhan clarified that the Godavari waters are being diverted to these reservoirs through the Sreepada Yellampalli Project constructed by the then Congress government in united Andhra Pradesh, and not from the Medigadda project built by BRS.
She reminded that if the Congress had spent just ₹3,000 crore back then, the Thummidihatti Project would have been completed, allowing Godavari waters to naturally flow by gravity into Sreepada Yellampalli. But instead, the Kalvakuntla family sidelined the half-completed Thummidihatti and launched the ₹1 lakh crore Kaleshwaram Project, which stands as a stark example of their greed for wealth.
Indira Shobhan accused the BRS leadership of looting public money under the guise of irrigation projects. She questioned KTR on how his sister Kavitha herself had revealed about the illegal wealth amassed during their regime. Despite spending crores on maintenance of Medigadda, Annaram, and Sundilla barrages, water could irrigate only 1,500 acres, she said. In contrast, if Thummidihatti had been completed, at least 2 lakh acres would have come under cultivation.
She further alleged that due to poor planning, the Medigadda reservoir pillars sank under heavy floods — an undeniable fact. The so-called Kaleshwaram redesign was only meant to benefit Sircilla, Gajwel, and Siddipet constituencies while wasting ₹1 lakh crore of public money, she charged.
Indira Shobhan demanded that KTR apologize to the people of Telangana for the corruption and irregularities during the BRS rule, which caused huge losses to the State. She warned that while KTR is already confined to farmhouses, the day is not far when he will be confined to jails.
