Congress Unity Holds Firm as Karnataka Leadership Change Talk Dismissed

Karnataka minister dismisses leadership change talk, says Congress united as government hits midterm, with chief minister and deputy affirming loyalty to high command amid rumours and political speculation across state.

  • Congress Karnataka unity remains intact.
  • Leadership change rumours rejected by Congress.
  • High command decision final for Karnataka Congress.

The Karnataka Congress has pushed back firmly against fresh talk of a leadership shake up, with Health Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao making it clear that the party is united and focused on governance rather than internal politics.

As the Congress government completes half of its term, speculation has surfaced about possible changes at the top. Rao said these claims are being overstated and stressed that there are no internal discussions underway about replacing the Chief Minister. According to him, stray comments by a few legislators should not be mistaken for an organised move or division within the party.

The minister underlined that the Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister have both publicly stated their commitment to accept any decision taken by the party leadership at the national level. He maintained that all elected representatives stand together and continue to work in coordination with the high command.

Political buzz grew after several senior leaders were mentioned as potential contenders if a change were ever considered. Names such as Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar and Home Minister G Parameshwara have circulated in political circles, though no formal process has been initiated.

Adding to the speculation, Shivakumar recently visited the national capital and met senior party leaders. He later played down the significance of the visit, explaining that such trips are routine and related to both government and party responsibilities, and should not be linked to leadership changes.

Congress leaders insist the government remains stable, with its attention fixed on administration and public welfare. The party leadership in Karnataka says rumours should not distract from its mandate, reiterating that unity within the Congress remains strong.
