Fake Note in CM Siddaramaiah Name Sparks Police Case Over Alleged Officer Transfer
A fake note allegedly issued in the name of CM Siddaramaiah regarding an officer transfer has gone viral on social media, prompting a police case after the Chief Minister’s Office termed it fabricated and malicious.
Bengaluru witnessed fresh political controversy after a purported note said to be written by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah began circulating widely on social media. The document claimed that a District Health and Family Welfare Officer from Mandya had been appointed as Deputy Commissioner of Excise in Mysuru.
However, the Chief Minister’s Office has categorically denied issuing any such communication. Following a formal complaint from the office, the Vidhana Soudha police registered a case on Friday against an unidentified individual. Officials stated that the act appeared to be a deliberate attempt to defame both the Chief Minister and the state government.
In the complaint, the Joint Secretary to the Chief Minister clarified that the so called note carried neither an official reference number nor a date. It was not recorded in the government’s E Office system and had not been forwarded to any department. Authorities confirmed that no transfer or appointment order had been issued based on the alleged document.
The police have booked the case under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita related to forgery and circulation of misleading documents. An investigation is now underway to trace those responsible and initiate appropriate legal action at the earliest.
The controversy intensified after senior BJP MLA Sunil Kumar shared the letter on social media, describing it as an example of administrative failure. With the matter now under investigation, officials have urged the public not to circulate unverified documents and assured that strict action will be taken against those involved.
