Helicopter Landing Mix Up Creates Confusion During CM Siddaramaiah Visit to Lingsugur

A pilot error led Chief Minister Siddaramaiah helicopter to land at the wrong helipad in Lingsugur while arriving for a wedding event causing confusion among officials police and reception teams

Lingsugur (Raichur dist): What was meant to be a routine official visit quickly turned awkward in Lingsugur after the helicopter carrying Chief Minister Siddaramaiah touched down at the wrong helipad, leaving officials and local representatives scrambling to locate him.

The Chief Minister had travelled to attend the wedding of the son of Legislative Council member Sharangouda Patil Bayyapur. Separate landing zones had been arranged in advance for the Chief Minister, the Deputy Chief Minister and other ministers to ensure smooth movement and security.

However, a mix up by the pilot led the helicopter to land at a helipad that had been designated for another minister. With reception teams and police deployed at the original site near Srinivas Layout on Raichur Road, there was no one present to formally receive the Chief Minister at the unexpected landing point.

Only a convoy vehicle meant for another minister was stationed there. Seeing no officials or welcoming team, the Chief Minister is said to have expressed displeasure over the situation. The sudden confusion prompted senior district officers including the Deputy Commissioner and Superintendent of Police to rush to the spot.

By the time authorities reached the location, Siddaramaiah had already left for the wedding venue. Later, after attending the ceremony, he returned to the correct helipad where police personnel offered a formal guard of honour.

The incident, though resolved quickly, caused momentary chaos and highlighted the importance of precise coordination during high profile movements. Officials said steps would be taken to avoid such lapses in future visits.
