Bengaluru, Karnataka: Political activity within the Karnataka Congress has intensified as Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar began a two-day visit to Delhi, where he is scheduled to hold discussions with senior party leaders, including Rahul Gandhi.
The trip has drawn attention as it comes soon after Rahul Gandhi’s recent visit to Mysuru. That sequence has reignited chatter within party circles, especially around unresolved internal dynamics and leadership coordination in the state unit.
While official sources say the Delhi meetings are linked to preparations for upcoming Assembly elections in Assam and other states, insiders suggest that Karnataka’s political roadmap could also feature prominently in the discussions. Shivakumar is one of the Congress observers for the Assam elections and is coordinating closely with Priyanka Gandhi.
Sources indicate that during Rahul Gandhi’s Mysuru visit, Shivakumar had sought a separate discussion on internal matters. However, he was reportedly asked to take up such issues in Delhi, away from public glare. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, too, was said to have been invited for consultations.

Speaking to reporters before leaving, Shivakumar played down the speculation, stating that meeting Rahul Gandhi or other senior leaders was “nothing new.” He maintained that internal discussions would not be aired publicly and reiterated his focus on organisational responsibilities.
Responding to questions about expectations from his supporters, Shivakumar said Rahul Gandhi remains the party’s central leader and that concerns would be conveyed appropriately. He also dismissed interpretations linking his recent social media posts to leadership issues, clarifying they referred to legal developments on Cauvery and Mekedatu matters.
Though election-related meetings are on the official agenda in Delhi, political observers believe Shivakumar’s visit could quietly shape the next phase of Congress politics in Karnataka.
