A major accident was narrowly avoided near Nelamangala when a private travel bus burst into flames and was reduced to ashes, even as all forty passengers managed to get out safely in time. The incident left behind a charred vehicle and frightened travellers but no injuries.
The bus, operated by Sanjana Travels, was heading from Bengaluru towards Kalaburagi with tourists on board. As it moved slowly along the Tumakuru Bengaluru highway due to ongoing roadwork, the driver reportedly lost control and the vehicle rammed into an electric pole. Within moments, smoke began rising and flames quickly spread through the bus.
Passengers said they sensed trouble as soon as the collision occurred and rushed to exit through the doors and windows. Their quick response helped prevent what could have turned into a serious tragedy. Many could only watch helplessly as their luggage and personal belongings were consumed by the fire.
The blaze intensified rapidly, engulfing the entire vehicle before firefighters arrived. By the time the Nelamangala fire team brought the flames under control, the bus had been completely destroyed. Only the metal frame remained at the scene.
Traffic police later visited the spot, recorded statements, and registered a case. Officials are examining the exact cause of the accident while urging drivers to be cautious on stretches where construction work is in progress. The back to back bus fire incidents in the state have raised fresh safety concerns among commuters.
