Bengaluru: A quiet morning near the police quarters in Thanisandra turned into a scene of horror after a school bus collided with a motorcycle, leading to the death of two small children in Bengaluru. The crash unfolded within seconds, leaving bystanders shocked and the children’s father helplessly watching the tragedy.

According to police, the children were travelling with their father on a bike when the bus, belonging to a private school, attempted to take a turn. In the process, the heavy vehicle reportedly hit the motorcycle, causing all three to fall onto the road. Before anyone could react, the bus ran over the children.

The victims have been identified as two year old Varsha and four year old Bhanu. Both suffered severe injuries and died on the spot. Locals rushed to help, but the damage had already been done. Witnesses described the moment as heartbreaking, with the father crying for help as traffic came to a halt.

Senior traffic officials, including the North Division DCP, reached the accident site soon after receiving the alert and inspected the area. Hennur traffic police registered a case and detained the school bus driver for questioning.

Residents say the stretch has frequent vehicle movement and sharp turns, raising concerns about road safety near residential and school zones. The incident has once again highlighted the need for stricter driving discipline and caution around children.

For the grieving family, however, the loss is immeasurable. What began as an ordinary ride ended in an unimaginable tragedy that has shaken the entire neighbourhood.
