Shock and grief swept through the campus of Rajiv Gandhi University of Knowledge Technologies after a second year engineering student was found dead in an apparent suicide. The incident has left fellow students and faculty members deeply disturbed.
The student identified as Vasantha was pursuing E2 engineering at the institute located in Nirmal district. College authorities alerted police and informed her family soon after the incident came to light. Her body was shifted to the Bhainsa area hospital for postmortem procedures.
Police officials said the exact reason behind the student taking the extreme step is not yet known. Investigators are examining whether personal issues academic stress or other pressures played a role. A detailed inquiry has been initiated to establish the circumstances leading to the death.
The tragedy has revived painful memories of earlier incidents at the same campus.
