A shocking case of child abuse has emerged from Hyderabad, where a four year old boy was allegedly forced to consume acid by a close family member in Boduppal. The incident has raised serious concerns about child safety within households.

According to police officials, the incident took place in Srinivasa Colony under the Medipalli police station limits. The accused woman reportedly developed resentment over perceived favoritism within the family, which eventually led to the extreme act.

The child belongs to a joint family where multiple members live together. Investigators revealed that the accused, identified as Manjula, was upset that her son was not receiving the same attention as her elder co sister’s child. This grievance reportedly intensified over time.

Officials said tensions escalated further after the grandfather got a tattoo of the elder grandson’s name, which deeply angered the accused. She allegedly began targeting the child and had earlier made attempts to harm him, which were noticed and stopped by family members.

On the day of the incident, the woman reportedly took the child into the kitchen and lured him with the promise of giving chocolate if he drank juice. Instead, she forced the boy to consume acid, causing severe injuries.

The child’s parents rushed him to a nearby private hospital after noticing his condition, where he is currently undergoing treatment. Doctors are monitoring his health closely.

Following a complaint filed by the child’s mother on Wednesday night, police registered a case and launched an investigation. Authorities are now examining all aspects of the incident and ensuring legal action against the accused.

The case has sent shockwaves through the community, highlighting the dangers of unresolved family conflicts and the urgent need for awareness around child protection and mental wellbeing.
