The debate over a possible BRS to TRS name change has resurfaced in Telangana politics, with party working president K. T. Rama Rao making notable remarks on the issue.

Speaking during a recent interaction, KTR indicated that discussions are ongoing within the party about reverting to its original name, Telangana Rashtra Samithi. He acknowledged that the absence of Telangana identity in the party name may have contributed to electoral setbacks.

The party had earlier rebranded itself from TRS to BRS with the aim of expanding its presence at the national level. However, the move did not yield expected results, as the party faced defeats in both Assembly and Parliamentary elections.

Political observers believe that removing the word Telangana from the party name created a disconnect with grassroots supporters. Many leaders and cadre members have reportedly been urging a return to the TRS identity, which carries strong emotional value among voters.

KTR stated that while the proposal is being seriously considered, the final decision will be taken by party chief K. Chandrashekar Rao.

At the same time, KTR responded to discussions about a new political outfit reportedly linked to his sister, saying that any party must have a clear purpose to sustain itself in the long run.

He also admitted that there was some gap between the party leadership and grassroots cadre during its time in power, which impacted recent election outcomes. Efforts are now underway to rebuild connections through membership drives and organizational restructuring.

Looking ahead, KTR announced plans to strengthen the party base and reconnect with the public through outreach programmes, including a proposed statewide padayatra.

The ongoing BRS to TRS name change debate is now a major talking point, with political circles closely watching whether the party will return to its roots or adopt a new identity ahead of future elections.
