Municipal politics in the erstwhile Warangal district has entered a decisive phase as chairman and vice chairman elections are being held today in Dornakal, Thorrur and Jangaon after delays caused by lack of quorum and tense scenes earlier.

In Dornakal the swearing in of the municipal council could not take place on Monday due to insufficient attendance but officials have now completed arrangements for the elections. Similar uncertainty was seen in Thorrur and Jangaon where confusion and political pressure forced a postponement a day earlier.

With the polls back on track today both Congress and BRS are locked in a tight contest to secure control of the municipal leadership. Strategic moves last minute coordination and unusual political understandings have added to the suspense particularly in Thorrur and Jangaon.

Police have stepped up security following heightened political activity with councillors being escorted directly from camps to council halls. Senior leaders from both parties are actively monitoring developments as these municipalities are seen as politically significant.

In Jangaon the numbers are evenly placed keeping the outcome unpredictable while Thorrur continues to witness intense lobbying by both sides making the elections closely watched across the region.
