  • DIG Srinivas urges media verification.
  • Fake news sparks unnecessary panic.

Rumours claiming a terror conspiracy inside Chanchalguda Jail have been firmly denied by prison authorities. DIG Srinivas said there was no such incident and described the circulating reports as completely false and misleading.

Responding to social media posts and television reports, Srinivas said unverified claims linked to national security can create unnecessary panic. He stressed that journalists and social media users must confirm sensitive information with officials before sharing it publicly.

According to the prisons department, the jail houses only one terror accused linked to Lashkar e Taiba. The inmate meets only his wife under strict surveillance, following standard prison rules. These meetings take place in designated survey lines and are scheduled separately from other prisoners.

Speculation had grown after intelligence inputs elsewhere in the country suggested terror planning, with some reports loosely connecting those alerts to Hyderabad. Officials clarified that no terror planning was carried out from within the jail and that security agencies remain alert as part of routine procedures.

Prison authorities reiterated that spreading rumours without facts harms public trust and security preparedness. They urged citizens to rely only on official statements when it comes to sensitive law and order matters.
