Telangana is witnessing an intense heatwave, with Adilabad district turning into one of the hottest regions as temperatures soar to alarming levels. The mercury touched a record 45.3 degrees Celsius in Adilabad, significantly above normal, making conditions extremely harsh for residents.
The rising heat has already taken a toll on lives across the state. At least three people have died due to suspected heatstroke while carrying out daily work under the scorching sun. Victims include farmers and workers from different districts who collapsed due to prolonged exposure to extreme temperatures.
Across Telangana, most districts have recorded temperatures crossing 41 degrees Celsius, with hot winds and dry conditions making outdoor activities difficult. People are struggling to cope as early morning hours itself are witnessing intense heat.
According to the India Meteorological Department, temperatures are likely to increase further by one to two degrees over the next couple of days. However, there is a possibility of some relief, with forecasts indicating light to moderate rains accompanied by thunder and lightning in parts of the state from late April into early May.
Health experts have advised people to take precautions, especially during peak afternoon hours. Farmers, labourers, elderly individuals, and children are considered most vulnerable. Doctors recommend staying hydrated, avoiding direct sunlight between late morning and evening, and consuming light and cooling foods.
Authorities have urged the public to remain cautious as the heatwave continues, even as weather changes in the coming days may bring partial relief to the region.
