A shocking murder in a quiet village of Vikarabad district has sent waves of fear through the local community after a minor argument between two friends ended in a brutal killing. Police have registered a case and intensified the search for the suspect who fled soon after the attack.
The incident took place in Karan Kot village of Tandur mandal where the victim a former ward member named Sailu was attacked in full public view. Sailu who worked as a television mechanic shared a long standing friendship with Balu a tailor by profession. Locals said the two were often seen together until suspicion began to poison their relationship.
According to preliminary police findings Balu had for nearly a year believed that Sailu was practising witchcraft against his family. The suspicion reportedly affected his mental health and even pushed him to attempt suicide last year from which he narrowly survived. Though the incident was behind him the mistrust between the two men continued to grow leading to frequent arguments.
On the day of the crime Sailu visited Balu’s house where a heated exchange broke out. Witnesses said Sailu allegedly made provocative remarks which triggered an outburst of rage. In a sudden act of violence Balu pulled out a knife he had brought with him and slit Sailu’s throat before stunned onlookers could react.
Police rushed to the spot after receiving alerts from villagers and shifted the body for postmortem examination. Officers recorded statements from witnesses including the accused’s wife who confirmed the sequence of events leading up to the attack. A hunt is now on to trace the absconding suspect.
