Gadwal Vijayalakshmi Appointed Telangana Women Commission Chairperson

The Telangana government appointed Gadwal Vijayalakshmi as Chairperson of the State Women Commission along with six members for a five year term to strengthen women welfare initiatives.

The Telangana government has appointed Gadwal Vijayalakshmi as the Chairperson of the State Women Commission, marking a major step in strengthening institutional support for women related issues in the state.

Along with the appointment of the Chairperson, the government also announced six members for the commission. Official orders regarding the new appointments were issued by the state administration on Sunday.

The newly formed commission will remain in office for a period of five years. Officials said the panel is expected to focus on women welfare, safety, awareness programmes and issues related to rights and social justice.

Among the appointed members are Kasoju Shankaramma, mother of Srikanthachari, and Chityala Swetha, granddaughter of Telangana freedom fighter Chakali Ailamma. Their inclusion has drawn attention due to their family backgrounds and association with prominent Telangana figures.

The commission also includes Shashikala Yadav Reddy, Sadalakshmi, Radhabai and Uzma Shakeera as members. The government believes the diverse representation within the panel will help address a wide range of issues concerning women across Telangana.

Officials stated that the newly appointed commission is expected to actively coordinate with different departments and work towards improving support systems for women throughout the state.
