In a major move to tackle growing traffic congestion, the Telangana government is planning to develop modern bus terminals around the Outer Ring Road in Hyderabad. The initiative aims to reduce the pressure on existing central bus stations and improve travel convenience.

With passenger numbers rising sharply, especially after the introduction of free travel schemes, reaching major bus stations like MGBS and JBS has become increasingly difficult. Long travel times and heavy traffic have added to the inconvenience for daily commuters.

To address this, officials are considering setting up new terminals in key outskirts such as Uppal, LB Nagar, Aramghar and Lingampally. These locations are expected to serve as alternative boarding points for passengers traveling to various districts and neighboring states.

The plan is to stop incoming buses from districts at these peripheral terminals instead of allowing them to enter the city core. This will help reduce congestion within Hyderabad and make travel smoother for passengers.

A major terminal is also proposed near Shamshabad, which is likely to handle high traffic from multiple routes. Each location is strategically chosen to serve specific travel corridors, ensuring better connectivity and reduced travel time.

For example, a terminal in Uppal could benefit passengers traveling towards Warangal, while LB Nagar may serve routes connecting to Nalgonda and Vijayawada. Similarly, Aramghar and Lingampally could cater to routes heading towards Karnataka and Maharashtra regions.

Currently, thousands of buses enter Hyderabad daily, carrying lakhs of passengers. Authorities believe that decentralizing bus operations will significantly ease the burden on the city’s transport infrastructure and provide a more efficient travel experience.
