A major Hyderabad theft has come to light in Jubilee Hills where a Nepali couple, hired as domestic help, allegedly escaped with jewellery worth nearly two crore. The incident has raised serious concerns about trust and background verification of household staff.

The couple, identified as Mahesh Sahi and Apsara Sahi, had joined the house around 45 days ago. They reportedly gained the confidence of the family by working sincerely while quietly observing the house layout and valuables.

According to police, the theft was carefully planned. When the homeowners Anirudh Reddy and Deepika Reddy left for a trip, the accused used the opportunity to execute their plan. Late at night, they broke open the main door and later accessed bedrooms and lockers.

Investigators revealed that the couple spent several hours inside the house, breaking cupboards and safes before collecting valuables. The stolen items reportedly include diamond necklaces, gold ornaments, and expensive watches, all packed and taken away before dawn.

The crime came to light when the driver arrived in the morning and noticed broken locks and doors. The family was informed immediately, following which a police complaint was filed.

Police teams have collected fingerprints and are analyzing CCTV footage from the surrounding area. Efforts are underway to trace the accused, with teams monitoring routes across states and even near international borders.

Officials believe the value of stolen jewellery and luxury items could be around two crore. They have also begun tracking the role of individuals who introduced the couple to the household.

This Hyderabad theft has once again highlighted the risks of hiring unknown workers without proper verification. Police have urged residents to be cautious and ensure background checks before employing domestic help.
