The Telangana government has accelerated efforts to transform Hyderabad into a traffic free city with a large scale infrastructure push under the H City project. With administrative approval granted for a budget of Rs 7042 crore, authorities are moving ahead with key works aimed at easing congestion and improving connectivity.
A significant portion of the funding has been allocated to high priority works, especially around the busy KBR Park stretch in Jubilee Hills. Officials have divided the project into multiple packages, focusing on constructing steel bridges and underpasses at major junctions to streamline traffic movement in one of the most congested zones of the city.
Under the first phase, works include the construction of two steel bridges and three underpasses at critical points such as Jubilee Hills Check Post and nearby junctions. In the next phase, additional steel bridges and underpasses will be built in areas like Film Nagar and Road Number 45, where traffic bottlenecks have long troubled commuters.
Meanwhile, another major corridor project connecting Nalgonda crossroads to Owaisi Junction is nearing completion. The flyover, stretching over 2500 meters, has already achieved around 90 percent progress. Once opened, it is expected to significantly reduce travel time between the old city and newer parts of Hyderabad.
Officials are also fast tracking land acquisition and traffic diversion plans to ensure timely execution. Regular review meetings are being conducted to monitor progress and address challenges on the ground.
The government’s broader aim is to build world class infrastructure that supports Hyderabad’s growth as a global city. By completing these projects within the set timelines, authorities hope to offer smoother travel experiences and reduce daily traffic stress for lakhs of commuters across the city.
