A shocking case from Jangaon district has exposed the dark side of property disputes, where a father allegedly plotted to kill his own children in a bid to gain control over land.

Police revealed that the accused, identified as Banoth Srinivas, along with his second wife Mamata, conspired to eliminate his two young sons by poisoning them. The plan involved lacing biscuits with poison and offering them to the children.

The incident took place in Pottigubbati Thanda under Raghunathpalli mandal. According to investigators, the motive behind the crime was a dispute over property that had been allocated in the children’s name following family disagreements.

Srinivas had married his first wife Anita in 2016, and the couple had two sons. Due to marital conflicts, he later entered into a second marriage. Although elders had mediated and allotted a portion of land and money to the children, tensions continued over ownership.

Driven by greed, the accused allegedly decided to remove the children to claim full control over the property. They reportedly approached another individual, offering money to carry out the act by feeding the poisoned biscuits.

However, the plan failed after the person approached for the crime backed out and informed the children’s mother. Realizing the danger, she immediately alerted the police, preventing a possible tragedy.

Acting swiftly, Raghunathpalli police registered a case and launched an investigation. During preliminary inquiry, the conspiracy was confirmed, leading to the arrest of Srinivas and Mamata. Both have been remanded to judicial custody.

The incident has sparked outrage among local residents, who have demanded strict punishment for those involved. The case highlights how disputes over property can lead to extreme and inhumane actions, raising serious concerns about family conflicts and child safety.
