Hyderabad: Senior Congress leader and former minister Jeevan Reddy has made it clear that he is not willing to reconsider his decision to leave the party, even as top leaders rushed to hold discussions with him in an attempt to defuse the situation.
Earlier in the day, Telangana PCC chief Mahesh Kumar Goud along with senior leaders including AICC representatives and party whip Adi Srinivas visited Jeevan Reddy residence. The meeting was aimed at persuading him to stay, but it appears the efforts did not yield the desired result.
Sources close to the discussions indicate that Jeevan Reddy expressed deep dissatisfaction over recent political decisions within the party. He reportedly conveyed that both he and his supporters felt sidelined, which has led to growing frustration.
Despite repeated appeals from party leaders, Jeevan Reddy remained firm and reportedly stated that there was no point in continuing in a party where he felt he was not given due importance. His stance reflects a widening gap between him and the party leadership.
Soon after the PCC chief left his residence, Jeevan Reddy came out and made a strong statement, saying that it would be his last day in the Congress party. He also confirmed that he would reveal complete details about his decision on the 25th.
The situation turned more symbolic when party workers removed flex boards bearing the name Indira Bhavan from his residence, signaling a visible break from the party.
With no signs of compromise, the development has created fresh political tension within the Congress in Telangana. Party leaders are now closely watching the next move, as Jeevan Reddy prepares to make his future plans public.
