  • Liquor price hike in Telangana expected soon
  • Government plans increase in liquor prices across brands
  • Revenue boost targeted through liquor price hike

Liquor consumers in Telangana may soon feel the impact of rising costs, as the state government is preparing to increase liquor prices across various categories. Officials indicate that a final decision could be announced by the end of this month.

The move comes after sustained pressure from liquor manufacturers, who have been urging the government to revise prices due to increasing production expenses. A price determination committee is expected to meet next week to review proposals and finalize the new rates.

According to sources, the hike may range up to sixty rupees for regular brands and around one hundred rupees for premium categories. Higher end products could see even steeper increases, depending on the committee’s recommendations.

The government is also looking at the financial benefits of this decision, aiming to generate significant additional revenue. Estimates suggest that the revised pricing could bring in nearly three thousand crore rupees annually to the state treasury.

Rising global fuel prices and increased transportation costs have contributed to higher manufacturing expenses, particularly affecting bottle production and logistics. These factors have played a key role in pushing companies to seek a price revision.

At the same time, officials are cautious about increasing prices too sharply, as it could lead to public dissatisfaction and encourage illegal liquor production in rural areas. A balanced approach is therefore being considered.

Meanwhile, liquor consumption patterns have also shifted, with beer sales witnessing a noticeable rise. Increased summer temperatures and seasonal factors have driven higher demand, with sales recording a significant jump compared to last year.

As discussions continue, all eyes are on the upcoming committee meeting, which is expected to play a crucial role in determining the final structure of the liquor price hike in Telangana.
