Actor Manchu Manoj has reacted to the ongoing POCSO case involving Bandi Sai Bhageerath, urging authorities to ensure a transparent and unbiased investigation into the allegations connected to a minor girl.
Sharing his views on social media platform X, Manoj said the incident had deeply disturbed him and stressed that justice must be delivered equally without influence from political power, financial status or public position.
The actor stated that the POCSO Act was created to protect minors and ensure justice for every girl irrespective of the background of the accused. He said cases involving children require immediate attention, accountability and transparency from investigating agencies.
Manoj also expressed concern over delays in sensitive investigations, saying any lack of urgency or selective action could weaken public trust in the legal system. He added that the issue should not be viewed through a political lens and insisted that the truth must emerge through a fair legal process.
The case has attracted growing attention across Telangana after a complaint was registered at the Pet Basheerabad police station in Hyderabad. The family of a 17 year old girl alleged that Bhageerath, son of Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay Kumar, sexually harassed the minor.
Amid increasing criticism over the pace of the investigation, Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy directed Director General of Police C V Anand to form special teams and speed up the inquiry.
At the same time, political reactions have intensified around the case. BRS leader RS Praveen Kumar accused police of protecting the accused and demanded the issuance of a lookout notice against Bhageerath.
The Telangana State Commission for Protection of Child Rights also stepped into the matter and sought a detailed report from Cyberabad Police after taking suo motu notice based on media reports.
Meanwhile, Bhageerath denied all allegations made against him and filed a counter complaint accusing the girl’s family of extortion and criminal intimidation. Police officials stated that the investigation is ongoing and further action will depend on the findings of the inquiry.
