RTC employees are set to receive revised salaries from July 1 after management agreed to implement the 2021 pay revision with an 11 percent fitment. The decision came after discussions between RTC officials and leaders of the employees joint action committee.

Labor union representatives said several long pending issues were discussed during the meeting and management responded positively to multiple demands raised by employees. The agreement is expected to provide relief to thousands of workers waiting for wage revision benefits.

Apart from the revised pay structure, management also accepted proposals related to employee benefits and service matters. Officials agreed to increase the 2017 pay revision allowances and fringe benefits to 80 percent.

The discussions also resulted in a decision regarding employees currently working under the Bread Winner scheme. Management agreed to regularize all existing employees under the scheme and continue their service seniority. Future appointments are also expected to be made on a regular basis.

Another important announcement concerned candidates who cleared the Junior Assistant examination. RTC officials said postings for all successful candidates would be issued before the end of this month.

Retired employees are also expected to receive support under the new decisions. Authorities agreed to provide medicines for two months at a time as was done earlier. In addition, a new rest and dining hall will be built at Tarnaka Hospital with an estimated budget of Rs 40 lakh for the benefit of patients and attendants.

Employee representatives described the outcome of the talks as a significant step and expressed hope that the implementation process would move forward without delay.
