Telangana farmers have begun receiving financial assistance under the Rythu Bharosa scheme as the government rolls out the first instalment with revised guidelines aimed at faster and wider benefit distribution.
The funds, released by Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, are being credited to farmers’ bank accounts from Monday. A total of Rs 3446.94 crore is being distributed in this phase, benefiting around 68.90 lakh farmers and covering nearly 57.45 lakh acres of land.
Under the updated system, farmers will receive Rs 6000 per acre for the first acre in the initial instalment, regardless of the total land they own. This marks a significant shift from the previous approach where payments were made in stages based on total landholding.
Officials say the new guidelines ensure that even farmers with larger landholdings receive immediate support for at least one acre, eliminating delays that previously forced many to wait for weeks.
The government plans to release the remaining amount in two or three phases within the next 45 days. For the agricultural season, farmers are eligible for Rs 6000 per acre, with a total annual support of Rs 12000 per acre under the scheme.
District wise allocation shows that Nalgonda has received the highest share of funds, while Medchal Malkajgiri has received the lowest in this phase.
The scheme has also been extended to new beneficiaries who recently received pattadar passbooks. Around 6000 such farmers are eligible to receive payments, provided their details are correctly updated online.
Authorities have advised farmers to verify their bank balances and check payment status if the amount is not credited. For new beneficiaries, it is mandatory to update details in the Dharani portal and submit required documents such as Aadhaar, bank passbook and passbook records to local officials.
With these changes, the government aims to make the Rythu Bharosa scheme more efficient and accessible, ensuring timely financial support for farmers during the agricultural season.
