A Sub Inspector working in Sangareddy district has been suspended after a woman constable accused him of cheating her in the name of marriage. The incident, which surfaced in Hyderabad, has drawn serious attention from senior police officials.
According to police sources, the woman constable, who is posted at Kukatpally Police Station, filed a complaint alleging that the officer had developed a close relationship with her after promising marriage. She claimed that he later began avoiding the issue whenever she brought up their marriage plans.
The accused officer, identified as Suresh Kumar from the 2018 batch, is currently attached to Kollur Police Station. Officials said the two became acquainted during service, and their friendship reportedly turned into a relationship over time.
The woman constable alleged that the officer repeatedly assured her that he would marry her, which strengthened their relationship. However, she said his attitude changed in recent months and he allegedly started postponing the marriage by giving different reasons.
Police sources revealed that arguments had also taken place between the two over the marriage issue. After repeated attempts to get clarity from the officer failed, the constable reportedly confronted him directly. She later claimed that he clearly refused to marry her, leaving her shocked and emotionally distressed.
Following the complaint lodged at Kukatpally Police Station, a case was registered and efforts were made to question the Sub Inspector. Investigators said the officer allegedly switched off his phone and remained unavailable during the inquiry process.
Considering the seriousness of the allegations and his lack of cooperation in the investigation, senior police officials decided to place the Sub Inspector under suspension. Further investigation into the case is currently underway.
