The Telangana government has decided to revise school working hours for Urdu medium institutions to support students and teachers observing Ramadan. The move aims to ease daily schedules for those fasting during the holy month.
As per the orders issued by the School Education Department Director Naveen Nicholas, all government and aided Urdu medium schools will function from 8 am to 1 30 pm. The same timings will apply to Urdu medium sections operating within regular schools and to Urdu medium DIET colleges.
The revised schedule will be in force from February 19 to March 20. Officials clarified that the decision was taken after representations from teachers associations and keeping student welfare in mind.
To make up for the reduced working hours the department has directed upper primary and high schools to work an additional day. Primary schools will compensate by adding extra working time across two days similar to the previous year.
Instructions have been issued to regional joint directors and district education officers to ensure smooth implementation of the new timings across the state.
