The Telangana government has taken a key administrative step by appointing five government whips across the Legislative Assembly and Legislative Council. Officials said the move is aimed at improving coordination and ensuring smoother conduct of legislative business.
According to the official notification, the appointments came into effect from March 18 following approval from the Governor. Authorities have also directed that the orders be published in the state gazette as part of formal procedure.
In the Assembly, three legislators have been selected to take up the role of government whips. These include MLAs from different constituencies who will be responsible for guiding party members and ensuring that government business proceeds without disruption.
Similarly, two members have been appointed as government whips in the Legislative Council. Their role will be to maintain coordination within the council and support the government in managing discussions and proceedings effectively.
Officials noted that government whips play a crucial role in maintaining discipline among members and ensuring that legislative priorities are handled efficiently. Their presence helps streamline communication between the government and elected representatives.
