Telangana Approves Affordable Flats Project Under CURE Initiative

The Telangana government has taken a significant step toward expanding affordable housing by approving the construction of flats under the CURE initiative. The move is aimed at providing quality housing options for lower and middle income families across Hyderabad and surrounding areas.
Housing Department Secretary V P Gautham has issued official orders allowing the project to move forward. As part of the plan, the Telangana Housing Board has received permission to construct both Lower Income Group and Middle Income Group flats.
The government has announced an ambitious target of developing one lakh affordable flats for eligible families. To begin the initiative, approval has been granted for the construction of 12,000 flats under a pilot phase, which will help assess implementation and demand before larger scale expansion.
To make home ownership more accessible, the government will provide land through the Undivided Share system for LIG flats and extend a subsidy of Rs 5 lakh to eligible beneficiaries. Officials believe the financial assistance will reduce the burden on families looking to purchase homes.
The flats will be developed on lands belonging to the Housing Board, DIL, Rajiv Swagruha and other government owned properties. Authorities expect the project to increase housing availability while making urban living more affordable for thousands of families.
The initiative is being viewed as a major housing push by the Telangana government, with a focus on supporting economically weaker and middle class households through planned residential development and financial incentives.
